Winners of the ‘Shanghai Metro Cup 2008’ Public Creative Advert Design Competition for sponsored by the Shanghai Shentong Metro Group and co-organized by Shanghai STDecaux Advertising Company is announced on the 27th. The themes of this competition are; ‘Embrace the Olympics Games and the World Expo, Promoting Civilization and Harmony’, aiming to promote public awareness, social responsibility and encourage harmonious relationships between citizens. It also aims to establish the image of the modern Shanghai Metro culture and develop a harmonious communal environment. In recognition of Shanghai STDecaux’s noble efforts in supporting this Competition, Shanghai Shentong Metro Group awarded to STDecaux the ‘Best Efforts Award’. This competition is jointly organized by 4 committees, including the Shanghai City Education Commission, Shanghai City Building and Construction Committee, Shanghai City Transport Committee, and the Office of the Shanghai City-Spirit and Cultural Development Committee attracting the participation from many of the University professors and students in Shanghai. As the Competition started on the 8th April and ended on the 10th June, it received a total of 974 Design Project entries from university students throughout the whole of Shanghai. According to reports, the panel of judges of this Competition is formed by many famous writers and authors, artists and critics, including: Zhao Lihong, Peng Ruigao, Zhang Peicheng and Xiao Gu etc. All projects entered for the competition have undergone many stages of screening and selection until they come to the 100 finalists, including: 3 Gold awards, 6 Silver Awards, 10 Bronze Awards, 30 Merits and 51 finalists. Other than winning the entry to have their pieces showcased in the exhibition held in the Liu Haisu Art Museum, the awarded pieces will also be printed into books for collection. Those excellent works that are awarded Gold, Silver and Bronze awards will also be made into Shanghai Metro Commemorative Cards, guiding metro passengers into spiritual-civilization and developing new cultural practices.
