The Summit Forum on the Operation of Urban Rail Transit Media ("the Forum"), a key event hosted by the Coordination Commission for Operation of Urban Rail Transit Resources and sponsored by Shanghai Shentong Metro Co., Ltd, was held at Shanghai Hua Ting Hotel & Towers on July 7-8, 2011. Committee member organizations, relevant media and news agencies and various partnering organizations and operators of urban transit networks from both within and outside of China attended the forum. In total, 230 high-level executives from these organizations were in attendance. Under the headline of "Media Integration, Innovation and Social Responsibility," the Forum touched on a wide range of key topics, including analysis and viewpoints on the reform of strategies concerning the management of urban transit media, market segmentation, operational strategies, use of a unified message across a media campaign and trends in innovation; the impact of media on the urban environment as well as thoughts and practice around fulfillment of social responsibility; sharing of knowledge and experience among owners and operators of media networks from different cities; and means and methods for promoting cooperation and exchanges among the operators of these media networks. Of particular emphasis was a discussion on how to create synergies in the operation of urban transit media through the application of an integrated, innovative strategy.
Special guest JCDecaux Co-Chief Executive Officer, Jean-Charles Decaux, delivered a speech at the forum entitled "The Best Metro Advertising Partner," at which he gave a presentation on JCDecaux's global operations, the company’s management philosophy and their experiences from running an advertising network in China's urban transit media sector over the past several years.
