WWF Energy-saving “20 Action” Entering Shanghai Metro


On February 1 2007, the opening ceremony of “China Portugal Innovation 2007 – Future Dream Experience” was held at Pudong Exhibition Center. This event was hosted by Ymeng which is a technical cooperation partner of JCDecaux China. JCDecaux China and JCDecaux Shanghai Metro also participated in and co-organized the event which has gained great support from both governments of Portugal and China.
In the process of the event, it displayed many innovation technical products to public, inaugurated a innovation advertising area of JCDecaux Shanghai Metro, and displayed a model of innovation station of Shanghai Metro Line 4.

On July 15, 20 energy-saving tips from WWF (World Wildlife Fund) appeared in Shanghai Metro station to publicize and spread energy-saving knowledge to the passengers, and encourage them to participate in energy-saving with practical actions in their daily life.

This time JCDecaux China has provided totally projected 103 advertisement space in Shanghai, covering 43 stations and lasting from July 15 to middle October. The event was also one of the two-year-long series events of “20 Energy-saving Action” by WWF and all the metro advertisement spaces were provided by JCDecaux China. Before that, JCDecaux China had also provided WWF with lightboxes at metro stations to publicize energy saving actions in Beijing.

It is introduced that, the nationwide “20 ways to 20%” energy saving campaign started from January 20th 2007 in Beijing which is aiming to raise awareness among the general public on the importance of conserving energy and in support of the Chinese government 11th Five Year Plan target of reducing the country’s overall energy consumption by 20%. Moreover, the public may also log on http://www.20to20.org to contribute their own energy-saving tips. In order to work in conjugation with realization of the state objective to reduce energy intensity per GDP by 20% during the period of the 11th Five Year Plan, “20 Action” has planned to carry out a two-year national large energy-saving event. Through the various publicity events, JCDecaux China hopes to mobilize and influence the public to participate in the energy-saving action personally, and relieve such environmental issues resulted from global warming by doing that.
