JCDecaux China First Best of the Best Awards Ceremony Held in Shanghai
April 11, 2007, Shanghai –JCDecaux SA (Euronext Paris: DEC), the number one outdoor advertising company in Europe and Asia-Pacific and number two worldwide, organized the First Best of The Best Awards Ceremony at JC Mandarin in Shanghai on the evening of April 11th. 36 winners under 10 categories were all unveiled. UPS and GP won Best Use of Media Platinum Award and Best Creative Platinum Award respectively, the two most high-profile awards. Jean-Charles Decaux, Chairman of the Board and co-CEO of JCDecaux Group was present at the ceremony and presented awards to winners.

Asahi beer won Best Branding Gold Award and Best New Product Campaign Gold Award went to Nokia 5500. Wrigley China and taobao.com picked Best National Campaign Gold Award and Best Tactical Campaign Gold Award respectively. While GP got the Best Creative Award, it also took back the Best Poster Award. UPS added Best Poster Campaign Award to its Best Use of Media Award.

He paid tribute to all winners for their contributions to metro media, “I would like to extend my most sincere congratulations to all the award winners. It’s your effort that enhances the effectiveness of outdoor advertising by engaging through creative applications and interacting with the audience, to reflect the continuous evolution of outdoor advertising in China.”

On the evening, over 300 guests from business and the media had the opportunity to see all winning works. 36 winners all came from advertising works placed in the metro of six cities in 2006. The winners were rigorously reviewed and selected by a panel of advertising creative experts, media planning experts and advertisers. To enhance interaction and inclusion, JCDecaux also invited ordinary passengers to participate in reviewing. My Favourite Poster Awards by city were actually based on passenger votes in 6 cities. 

The 10 categories of the First Best of the Best Awards are: Best Use of Media, Best Creative, Best Branding, Best Tactical Campaign, Best New Product Campaign, Poster of The Year, Poster Campaign of the Year, Powerzone, Best National Campaign, My Favourite Poster. 

The Best of the Best Awards started in 2002. These most authoritative outdoor advertising awards in Hong Kong are jointly organized by JCDecaux Pearl&Dean HongKong and HongKong MTR. This year has seen the 5th Awards, which aim to recognize excellent metro advertising works. The awards are the only outdoor-related advertising awards in Hong Kong that especially pay tribute to advertisers, media planning and creative professionals for their contributions to advertising creative and media placement. JCDecaux China First Best of the Best Awards hope to build on the success in Hong Kong and further establish the Awards in China, to foster a tradition and firmly establish the Awards as national awards focusing on metro advertising. The Awards want to fill a gap in China and drive the development of the whole outdoor advertising industry.
